The Shepherd
The Shepherd is pleased to present Seen/Scene: Artwork from the Jennifer Gilbert Collection. This exhibition marks the first public presentation from Jennifer Gilbert’s collection and brings together a selection of 36 contemporary artists curated by Laura Mott, Chief Curator at Cranbrook Art Museum, and seminal artist Nick Cave.
The opening celebration will take place on Sunday, October 5th, beginning at 11:00 AM with a conversation between artist Nick Cave, designer Bob Faust, and curator Laura Mott. Seating for the talk will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Following the discussion, there will be a special film screening of Nick Cave’s Here Hear.
Throughout the day, the Shepherd’s grounds will be activated with a variety of interactive art activities, including letterpress printing with Signal-Return, a pumpkin patch and painting workshop with Riverwards and artist Olivia Guterson, an art program by Cranbrook Art Museum, along with a skate demo and workshop with A Positive Seed, food trucks, music, and more. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore retail pop-ups featuring selections from Cranbrook Art Museum, Pewabic Pottery, and Progressive Art Studio Collective (PASC).
Seen/Scene is presented by the Shepherd and generously underwritten by Jennifer Gilbert.
